£380

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2018 before booking please contact the Course Provider directly as you may be eligible for funding.

The LTA Level 2 Coach Assistant Qualification is a 5 day assessed course aimed at people looking to progress from the Level 1 and is the second step on the LTA Coaching Pathway. The qualification is an assessed course and is awarded by 1st4sport.

Upon successful completion you will be able to lead the delivery of group coaching under the guidance of a minimum of an Accredited or Accredited+ Level 3 coach.

The course is 5 days in duration, consisting of 4 days of delivery and 1 day of assessment. The course is split over a minimum period of 4 weeks and will cover areas such as lesson structure, teaching progressions, ball characteristics, physical skills, mental skills and running activities for large groups. Additionally, the course requires candidates to complete a portfolio and gain a minimum of eight hours experience assisting an LTA Accredited+ coach between the second and third day of the course.

Coaches who hold a Level 2 Coach Assistant Qualification are not trained to deliver an individual session with a player but will be able to lead a group coaching session under the guidance of a minimum of an Accredited or Accredited+ Level 3 coach. They can also run a tennis activity session that has been set up by the Head Coach (Level 3 or above). A tennis activity session refers to organised play or competition facilitated by a coach through organising equipment, allocating space, and suggesting some ideas for activities. The key distinction between a coaching session and activity session is that no formal coaching instructions (for example technical instruction) are given.

Course pre-requisites

  • Hold the Level 1 Coach Assistant Qualification OR the LTA Tennis Assistants OR hold a 1st4sport Level 2 certificate in coaching another sport with UKCC endorsement.

  • Hold a valid certificate of competence in either First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), or will have successfully completed the OFQUAL Level 2 in First Aid

Candidates must attend all the sessions of the course at the same venue and pass all elements of assessment to be successful.
