Avon 14U Girls were in Taunton playing in their regional group with great 6 – 0 wins over both Gloucestershire and Somerset before finally overcoming Devon 4 – 2 to decide who qualified for the National Finals in Nottingham. A tremendous result and congratulations to Aryana, Dhruthi, Edie, Izzie, Lolita and Sofia, and our best wishes for the finals in two weeks time. You are ambassadors for Avon and an inspiration to our younger players.
Meanwhile the boys were in Burnham-on-Sea, and started the weekend with convincing 6 – 0 wins over South Wales and Somerset. The final day brought the two strongest teams together with Avon playing Devon. The weather sun stayed out but it was chilly and unfortunately our boys were edged out in some tight matches 2 – 4, so Avon finished 2nd in their group. Congratulations to Finn, Ijaaz, Jay, J’Quon, Leonidas and Luke for competing so well and playing tremendous tennis, despite J’Quon’s injury.
