Heading into a stormy February it is great that our young players are keeping a steady footing because, as at 7 February, 19 Avon Tennis Juniors remain in the Great Britain “Top 100 Combined Rankings”. This in line with the past 18 months where the figure has ranged from a low of 19 to a high of 24.
As we enter the next decade our expectations remain high with hopefully more juniors reaching the top level of British Tennis.
Incidentally “combined rankings” are based on the best 6 singles results plus 25% of the best 6 doubles results over a rolling 12 month period; consequently some of the rankings points drop off and therefore truly reflect the past year of competing in tournaments………….. and yes, it is possible for a player to feature in more than one age group!
