Club representatives from across Avon came to meet and discuss the latest news affecting clubs and their members.

The forum took place at the Somerdale Pavilion in Keynsham, at 7pm on Wednesday, 31 October with a free buffet and car parking.

Stuart Parsons, the newly appointed South West Region’s Safeguarding Officer was one of the guest speakers. It was great for members of the community to meet Stuart and realise he is there to help you with any safe guarding questions you have. Zoe Bambridge, SW LTA gave a ‘hot of the press’ presentation about the LTA’s vision. Alex and Jenny from, Nova Sports Coaching came, followed by a talk from Mandy Stonier about ‘She Rallies’ and how well received it has been across the region.

The highlight was celebrating the Avon British Tennis Awards. Tony Barker presented all of the following local heroes with a trophy, certificate, voucher and bottle of fizz:-

Backwell Tennis Club, Avon Community Award

Lesley St Leger, Downend and Frenchay, Avon Volunteer of the Year

Toby Huddlestone Avon Coach of the Year.

Martyn Bray won Outstanding Achievement and was presented at the 10U County Training Session by Tony Barker.

Ella Beavon won Avon Young Volunteer of the Year and was presented her prizes by Andy Trott at the Thursday group she volunteers for. (Ella received chocolates instead of fizz!)
