Avon County Coach Role
Responsible to: Avon County Performance Coordinator
Duration of contract: July 2021 to July 2022
Type of contract: Self Employed, Part time
Location: Training held at indoor venues across Bristol and County Cups events across GB.
Package:
• £30ph for on court delivery of county training
• Admin payment for selected meetings with the Avon Performance Committee at £15ph
• Daily coaching rate of £150-£225 per day for LTA County Cup events, dependent on responsibilities
• expenses paid for over night stay, travel & food where applicable for County Cup Events
• Free Avon branded kit
About the Role:
Avon Tennis are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic and reliable Avon coach who has excellent knowledge and experience of the ‘player pathway’. Who can demonstrate they have taught juniors to a County level or higher.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering County Training sessions to a range of age groups which could include U9-U18’s.
These sessions run on Sundays throughout the junior season from Oct-July across multiple indoor venues. Therefore, it is essential within the role that the successful candidate is frequently available on Sundays to deliver County Training.
Key roles & responsibilities:
• Work with the CPC, County administrator and other County coaches to help deliver a high quality county performance and development programme.
- Attend up to 3 meetings throughout the season with the team.
- Deliver high quality training sessions with in-depth knowledge of the key performance factors and player pathway. Creating a positive environment in which to work, train & develop professionally.
- Be responsible for registration and safeguarding with players and parents for their specific groups.
- Liaise with the CPC regarding all comms with their groups eg parent and player feedback, aims and objectives.
- Clear and up to date understanding of the LTA rating & ranking system to aid player selections.
- In collaboration with The Avon performance committee contribute to the team selection process and lead LTA County Cup teams & trips across GB, in line with a Avon Tennis safeguarding & policies, ensuring that players have an exceptional experience playing for their county.
Person Specification:
- A Level 4 LTA (accredited+) coaching qualification, or can provide evidence of working towards it (Essential).
- Experience working with performance players at a County level or higher (Essential).
- Great communication & presentation skills on and off court (Essential).
- Commitment to ongoing CPD linked with the LTA performance pathway and player development (Essential).
- Availability to lead and captain relevant teams at LTA County Cup events throughout the period of agreement (Essential).
- Full UK driving license (Essential).
- Playing experience at a county level or higher (Desirable).
- A desire and ability to commit to several age groups within our performance and development programme (Desirable).
- A desire to support the coaching team and provide cover for county training sessions where applicable (Desirable).
