As part of ensuring that the new “LTA Minimum Standards” are being maintained at every club and venue the programme of Audits undertaken by the Regional Safeguarding Officer, Stuart Parsons has commenced.
Stuart reports: “As the SW Regional Safeguarding Officer, I believe it appropriate to inform clubs about the current progress of auditing of venues within your County. The New Year (January) will see “Minimum Standards” Safeguarding audits at two North Somerset (Avon) clubs and I very much look forward to meeting club representatives at this time.
I have recently conducted a safeguarding audit at the University of Bristol (Coombe Dingle) and I would like to commend the efforts made by Andy Trott and his team. They achieved and exceeded in part in attaining the Minimum Standards required. Safeguarding was seen to be truly embedded in the ethos of this venue. Well done, to all involved.
I was truly encouraged by the efforts that were made at Coombe Dingle. I would ask that all clubs now prepare for their audits and get safeguarding on the agenda at their club meetings. To underpin safeguarding protocols within club newsletters and web sites as well as publicising details of your welfare officer and how to report safeguarding concerns!”
