It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Olive Brown passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on the 26th July at St Monica’s Trust Care Home in Westbury, Bristol.

As many of you will know, Olive has been involved with tennis throughout her life in a variety of roles including coach, referee, trainer, LTA Councillor and LTA full-time employee.  She was instrumental in setting up the much liked LTA Volkswagen Tournaments in Avon, and then subsequently across more Counties in the UK on behalf of the LTA.  In 1976 Olive assisted with the formation of the Avon Tennis Association and since then until only a few years ago she has filled numerous roles on our Executive and Competitions Committees.

Olive’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday 14th August at 3:00pm at St Augustines Chapel, St Monica’s Trust Cote Lane, Wesbury-on-Trym, Bristol BS9 3TT and afterwards at Oatley House (opposite the Chapel and down one floor) where the family would welcome all for a buffet and drinks. Olive was very detailed and specific in her plans, she asked for bright colours and no black tie to be worn at the memorial service.

The family appreciate not everyone may be able to attend, and they are asking that donations should be made in lieu of floral tributes, which was Olive’s wish. Should you wish to make a contribution please refer to the websites  below –
