Avon Executive Committee
On behalf of the Trustees the Executive Committee are responsible for the ongoing management and operations of Avon Tennis.

Tony Barker
President
Tony has been President of Avon tennis since 2012 having previously been involved with the County in several roles. A retired dentist he is still involved with Seniors Tennis as well as playing regularly as a Trustee and a member of Kings Tennis Club in Bristol.

Dayrell McArthur
Treasurer
Dayrell joined Avon Tennis as its Treasurer in December, 2020. He is a qualified accountant but for much of his professional career he has been MD of the long-established family business, McArthur Steel. He plays tennis for Bishop Sutton, golf for Bristol and Clifton (Men's Captain last year) and is an avid follower of many sports. He has also been involved in a range of charitable organisations. When the Treasurer's role was split last year into Treasurer and Accountant, it was on the basis that the Treasurer would be a Trustee of Avon Tennis, with a Strategic Financial role. Management accounts and budgets would be the responsibility of the Accountant.

Clive Sampson
Secretary
Clive has been County Secretary since 2004 and for a vast majority of time during that period was the County LTA Councillor. Amongst Clive's many contributions he has been the sole driver developing and building the relationships with our corporate sponsors enabling funds to be used for the benefit of clubs, coaches and players across Avon. When Clive is not on court at Lansdown Tennis Club he can be seen at Ashton Gate following his beloved Bristol City.

Maggie Tyrrell
Competition and Tournament Organiser
Maggie has managed and refereed tournaments in the County for many years and is a ABTO Licenced Official. She currently organises various events including the Bristol and Bath Junior Hardcourt Tournament, Road to Wimbledon County Finals and the Avon Junior County Championships. She also referees tournaments across the region and runs the competition programme for her own club, Almondsbury & Bradley Stoke Tennis Club, where she is the Chair of Trustees.

Ian Alexander
LTA Councillor
Ian joined the Avon team in 2015 and was elected as the LTA's Avon Councillor in 2017. He is also the County lead for "Facility Investment" and one of the County Safeguarding Officers. He is also a LTA Accredited coach.

Carol Weeks
Carol joined Avon Tennis in January 2019. She was Chair of Bristol Central Tennis Club for 9 years and has loved playing tennis since her school days. She has played league tennis in Bristol for over 40 years and is also a keen golfer. Now retired from her career in event organising and PR, she has time to continue her involvement in tennis.

Debbie Curtis
County Administrator
Debbie joined the LTA in 2001 as an Administrator in the South West Regional office based at Bath University where she co-ordinated the LTA Academy programme for some of the country’s most promising juniors. Following the arrival of her 2 children, Debbie left the Regional office and joined Avon Tennis on a part-time basis. As well as general administrative duties for the County and County Executive Team, Debbie’s key roles and responsibilities include co-ordinating the Junior county training programme, organising Junior and Senior County Cup, managing the County’s Wimbledon ticket allocation, running the Team Tennis Schools League and supporting county tournaments, leagues and events. Debbie is normally in the County Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9am to 4pm.
